Kayaking Ecuador

Ecuador is quickly becoming one of South America's most popular winter kayaking destinations, and for good reason! Just between the Quijos and Napo Valleys alone there are over 40 quality sections of whitewater. Ecuador is the size of Colorado and besides kayaking you can experience wonderful beaches and surfing, the highlands and Indigenous cultures of the Andes, the Galapagos, as well as the rainforests of the Amazon basin. The best kayaking regions in Ecuador span the foothills of the Andes and the upper reaches of the Amazon basin in the Quijos and Napo valleys east of Quito. Although less popular, there are also kayaking opportunities on the Western Slope of the Andes near Santo Domingo and in the South Eastern part of the country near Macas and Zamora.
